St. Peter's Church, where Egbert was consecrated Bishop of Lindisfarne here in AD 803. Most of the present building is late 13thC and the lancet windows at the East end are a superb example of the Early English style. The North Chapel was endowed by the Neville family as a chantry in the 14thC and after the Reformation was used as a village school, separated by a wall from the main building. The Church was exstensively restored in the mid 19thC.
